(Delayed to 11/8/2020) 11/1/2020 Epic Integration Changes
timestamp1603929360001
The following Epic integration changes will be deployed on 11/8/2020:
(1) “Email” field in telehealth URL not working correctly
When a provider launches a telehealth meeting, an optional “email” field can be provided to identify an existing Zoom account to use for the meeting instead of using auto-generated account. If you are not using this email field, this change can be ignored.
Example encrypted part of FDI record that includes the optional email field:
usertype=1&userid=%EPICUSERID;;; ; ;;NONE;%
&sessionid=%CSN%&firstname=%USERFNAME%
&lastname=%USERLNAME%&email=%EXTENSION;15362%
An issue when using this optional email field is that when the email field contains an invalid email address, an auto-generated account was getting created instead of returning an error. This resulted in unexpected Zoom accounts accumulating over time. This issue will be fixed and the behavior when using the optional email field will now be as follows:
- When a provider launches a meeting with the email field containing a valid Zoom account email address – that Zoom account will be used for the meeting
- When a provider launches a meeting with the email field containing no value or an email address not associated with a Zoom account – the telehealth meeting request will fail and return an error.
- When a patient launches a meeting with the email field – the email field will always be ignored and an auto-generated Zoom account will always be used.
Note: if the optional email field is not included in the launch URL, an auto-generated Zoom account will always be used.
(2) Undesirable characters in Telehealth meeting passwords
Sometimes it is necessary for a provider to pass the telehealth meeting URL and password to patients manually via email, text, or other means. When doing so, it can be difficult for patients to enter the password if the password contains characters that are hard to distinguish. To help with this, the following characters will no longer be used in telehealth passwords:
- ‘l’ (lowercase L)
- ‘I’ (upper case i)
